From the richest source…

Have you seen or read The Da Vinci Code? To whatever degree you believe the story, it’s hard not to get lost in the mystery of the Louvre’s most famous paintings. Within the brush strokes are clues about the lives of centuries past - not only the lives of the artists, but the lives of both the aristocratic figures and the ordinary people depicted.
When we’re looking for ideas or researching our costumes we all look at the minute detail in extant garments, and we’re lucky to be able to do so in museums from Kyoto to New York who now have their collections online. But this month’s Website of the Month feature will take one step further and find a wonderfully rich source of inspiration in the two-dimensional art of the past.
The Louvre is an enormously rich source - too rich, some might say, when you contemplate searching through its 35,000 works of art to find what you want. But in this month’s issue of Your Wardrobe Unlock’d, out this Friday, you’ll get a guided tour that’ll show you where to begin from the costumer’s point of view and where to find the best stuff. From the richest source can come the richest inspiration… and the richest end result when you step out in your completed work of art!
