Hello everyone, and welcome to the official blog of historical costuming and sewing magazine Your Wardrobe Unlock’d!
The magazine is the brain child of Catherine Hay and an extension of her bespoke costuming company Harman Hay. Whilst we have many readers on Harman Hay’s main Livejournal blog who were interested in ordering corsets and costumes, it soon became apparent that many more simply wanted to learn to sew… and not only did they want to sew, but they wanted to sew beautifully, magnificently, and do justice to the historical styles they loved, whether for a re-enactment costume or just a modern garment with a historical feel.
Your Wardrobe Unlock’d is the online magazine that’s beginning to meet that need. It teaches all the elements of a beautiful garment that paper patterns neglect to mention, and draws on all the expert experience that our mothers and grandmothers can no longer offer us.
Within a month of opening, the magazine had far outgrown the main HH blog, and so here we are, on our very own site! Now you’ll be able to come here to see news and updates relating to Your Wardrobe Unlock’d alone.
If you’re already a subscriber you’ll be able to find updates and extra information here, whilst also having a straightforward opportunity to give us your feedback by commenting about what you like, what you don’t like and what you’d like to see in future issues.
If you’re not yet a subscriber, you’re welcome here too. You’ll be able to get a better idea of what we’re about and what you could get out of subscribing, as well as soaking up all the free content that we have to offer!
Welcome, one and all!
